SENIOR PASTOR

 

Reverend Steve Burnett

   Steve joined us at First United Methodist Church in Casper July 1, 2007. 

        Steve was born in Meridian, Mississippi. He began his pastoral ministry in the Mississippi Conference in 1976 
   after earning a B.A. Degree from Millsaps College (Jackson, Mississippi) and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the 
   Claremont School of Theology (Claremont, California). His appointments have included, in the Mississippi
   Conference: Sandy Hook-Hopewell in the Marion County Cooperation Parish; and Associate Director of the Mississippi
   Conference for ministries with youth, young adults and camping. In the Rocky Mountain Conference since 1984, Steve
   has served as Minister of Christian Education for Colorado Springs, First; senior pastorates at Steamboat Springs and
   Pueblo, First; and just previously, a six-year term as superintendent of the Peaks and Plains District.
            Steve is currently a certified minister of Christian education, has been a certified lab leader, and is a past
   national president and member of the Christian Educators Fellowship (CEF) Board of Directors. Steve enjoys helping
   churches foster a climate for learning and growth.

ASSOCIATE PASTOR 

Reverend Brian Oliver

Brian joined us at First United Methodist Church in Casper in July of 2008. 

Rev. Brian comes to us from FirstUnited MethodistChurch in Cheyenne, WY. His duties included: preaching, and leadership of their children, youth, and adult programs. Rev. Brian was raised in Upton, WY and feels proud to call Wyoming home. He spent two years in Chicago, IL during junior high and high school, which developed in him a passion for multicultural ministry and social justice. Brian graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Human Services from Black HillsStateUniversity in Spearfish, SD. It was there that he met his wife Christine, and there that his mother, father and sisters currently live. Brian received his Master of Divinity at the MethodistTheologicalSchool in Ohio and was chosen by faculty and peers to deliver the baccalaureate sermon at his graduation in 2004. After graduating, he served two churches in Springfield, OH until he was asked to serve at First Cheyenne.

 RETIRED PASTOR

Reverend Robert D. Firebaugh, D. Mini., Ret.  

  Bob entered ministry in the Kansas West Conference of the UMC in 1967.  Upon graduation from seminary, he moved to Montana where he served for 14-years in the Yellowstone Conference.  In 1985 Bob became a member of the Rocky Mountain   Conference UMC with an appoint to Jefferson Ave. UMC in Wheat Ridge, CO.  Bob served Newcastle, WY. UMC 1993-2001 and  Douglas, WY UMC 2001-2006.  While in Douglas, Julie Lease became Julie Lease-Firebaugh. Bob retired in 2006. He and Julie moved to Casper where Bob selected First United Methodist as his official Church/Charge Conference.
